George Payling

Born in Greenock, George spent his formative years in Port Glasgow overlooking the Scott Lithgow ship yards and Tate & Lyle warehouses. With a family heritage firmly rooted in Scottish variety theatre he moved at the age of 7 to the seaside town of Ayr. Music was always part of everyday life and it was inevitable that music would play a significant part in his future. Now, with over 37 years of experience in the industry this bold transition into self awareness has produced  a new raw and honest originality, allowing his new found voice to articulate rich descriptive narratives and melodies that connect with the past and the romance of days gone by.

Starting out as the lead guitarist, pianist and vocalist of the iconic trio Texas Gun alongside his brother Simon and late father George Snr.  One of the most well known and well liked individuals on the music scene, he always has a smile and a song for anyone that is fortunate enough to be at his shows.  Doing a lot more solo work these days, George is well known for his powerful voice and extensive repertoire of country music ranging back into the good old days of the Georges and Hanks right up to the new country we hear today.

A very talented Song writer, George has self penned and recorded multiple songs that can be found at the link below.
